'I Know Where Your Cat Lives' App Aims To Educate Us On Oversharing

WATCH: Man Invents Cat Stalking App To Teach Us All A Valuable Lesson

If you're using Owen Mundy's app, chances are the cat's out of the bag and on his map of over three million felines around the world.

Mundy, an assistant professor at Florida State University, created 'I Know Where Your Cat Lives', an app that allows anyone to comb through a catalogue of public cat photos shared on the internet.

But there's more. The app also allows anyone to see the cat's general whereabouts based on geographic metadata -- the latitude and longitude -- encoded in some digital photos.

If that sounds a little invasive, you're catching on to the real objective of Mundy's project. For more on the true purpose behind this academic's cat-stalking app, watch the video above.
