Welcome to music festival weekend! While VELD and OVO will be bringing EDM and hip-hop fans to opposite ends of Toronto, Montreal's annual Osheaga kicked off yesterday opposite Chicago's Lollapalooza.
Taking place in Parc Jean-Drapeau, Osheaga started off strong with a diverse day one line-up. Outkast headlined, and will be also playing Lolla and OVO, and have clearly raised their game since the negative reviews that greeted their first reunion show back at Coachella in the spring.
Other day one acts included local heroes Chromeo and Sam Roberts Band as well as imports ranging from Manchester Orchestra, Foster the People and fun singer Jack Antonoff's new group Bleachers to former Clipse rapper Pusha T and former "Community" star Donald Glover, whose Wu-Tang-generated nom de rap is Childish Gambino.
