Celine Dion's Las Vegas Show Cancelled After Many Successful Years (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

Celine Dion Kisses Mega-Successful Las Vegas Show Goodbye

Celine Dion is kissing her mega-successful Las Vegas residency goodbye in order to spend time with husband Rene Angelil as he fights a cancer battle.

The cancellation of all her remaining shows puts an end to a total of seven years at Caesars Palace, where the Canadian songstress has played to legions of fans and raked in hundreds of millions of dollars.

Dion first took the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in March 2003 for "A New Day...," in a $95-million venue that was designed for the show, said a news release.

It eventually played to 3 million people and brought in $400 million over 717 performances.

After sold-out shows that spanned five years, "A New Day..." had its final curtain call in 2007 as Dion prepared for the "Taking Chances" world tour, which lasted from 2008 to 2009.

But she wasn't finished with Vegas. Dion announced her return to Caesars Palace in 2010 for a three-year residency that would begin the following year.

Dion's new residency was called the "number one show in North America" after selling out 54 consecutive performances and Newsweek called her the "biggest act since Elvis."

But the demands of performing have been difficult on Dion, especially after Angelil had a cancerous tumour removed last year, said a news release.

Dion herself has been nursing an "inflammation in her throat muscles" and has not hit the Las Vegas stage since July 29.

"I want to devote every ounce of my strength and energy to my husband's healing, and to do so, it's important for me to dedicate this time to him and to our children," she said in a statement.
