A B.C. man was arrested after he allegedly splattered blood on several customers inside a Tim Hortons.

Vernon RCMP received a call early Saturday afternoon with reports of a man intentionally flicking blood on people from a cut on his hand, according to CBC News.

The 23-year-old homeless man is believed to have mental health issues, said Castanet. He had a large laceration that was bleeding, RCMP told the media outlet.

Police are worried about potential health risks for customers who were in the restaurant at the time, reports AM 1150.

"We are concerned because blood was splattered ... but I have not heard whether the individual had any communicable diseases,"

Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk told the radio station.

Police are investigating the incident as an assault and the man will remain in custody until they can find proper help for him, said Castanet.
