Bill Cosby Once Joked About Putting Substances In Women's Drinks (VIDEO)

He Once Joked About Putting Substances In Women's Drinks

Bill Cosby, currently facing allegations that he drugged and raped women, once did a comedy routine about slipping a substance into females' drinks.

As The Village Voice pointed out, Cosby raised the subject as part of "Spanish Fly," a routine that appeared on his 1969 album "It's True! It's True!"

He related how, at 13 years old, he talked with other males about "Spanish Fly," a substance that men would put in women's drinks.

From the routine:

"... it’s always some strange 13-year-old who says, you know what, you know anything about Spanish Fly? No, tell me about it! Well there’s this girl, Crazy Mary, you put some in her drink, man, she ahhhh ... yeah, Spanish, oh yeah, that's really groovy, man, Spanish Fly is groovy, yeah, boy. From then on, man, anytime you see a girl, wish you had some Spanish Fly, boy. Go to a party, see five girls standing alone, 'Boy if I had a whole jug of Spanish Fly I'd light that corner up over there, hahaha!'"

Cosby went on to describe how he and his "I Spy" co-star Robert Culp traveled to Spain, and how his fellow actor knew about it, too.

The comedian then joked about speaking with a cab driver who asked them, "You can tell me maybe you brought with you some American Fly?"

Rape allegations against the 77-year-old actor have re-emerged after comedian Hannibal Buress brought them up during a set in Philadelphia last month.

Cosby has been accused of rape by a number of women who say he assaulted them after they consumed alcohol together.

Barbara Bowman, one of the alleged victims, wrote an article in The Washington Post last week asking, "Why did it take 30 years for people to believe my story?"

Cosby was silent when asked about the rape allegations in an interview on NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday. Host Scott Simon said he shook his head.

Lawyers for both Cosby and Andrea Constand, one of the women who has made allegations against him, later released a statement saying the comedian would not comment on the allegations.

"Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment," said a prepared statement.

Another woman, Joan Tarshis, has since come forward with allegations against Cosby, saying that he assaulted her twice in 1969.

Cosby is currently doing interviews for a Netflix comedy special titled "Bill Cosby 77," which begins on the day after American Thanksgiving, CNN reported.

NBC has also been working on a new sitcom featuring Cosby, but a pilot has not yet been shot.

Neither network has commented on the allegations.
