Daft Punk's iconic debut album "Homework" officially becomes a legal adult on Jan. 17 as it celebrates its 18th year in existence. With hits like "Da Funk" and "Around The World," boosted by the duo's iconic music videos and faceless robot personas, "Homework" was an album that helped changed the pre-EDM electronic crossover landscape from trashy eurodance to something of substance while putting French house on the map.

It is also one of the greatest debut albums of all time.

For decades, there has always been a special pack of golden bands or artists who have been able to blow music fans away with how incredible their music was right out of the gate. Sometimes a killer rookie album launches a band or artist on a career path to superstardom and other times their debut effort remains their best or only great work. (Keep an eye on that Sam Smith kid to see which way he goes.)

So in honour of "Homework," here’s a look back at 30 of the greatest debut albums ever released.
