We’re still in the early days of 2015, which means that many people are still in the early days of their fitness-related New Year’s resolutions. And they’re probably half-regretting them at this point.
Starting a new fitness routine isn’t always the most fun in the world. Sure, there are moments when you’ll feel like an unstoppable badass, but you’ll also have to get used to pushing yourself beyond your current comfort zone and occasionally dealing with DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) after the fact. The good news, though, is once you push through this initial discomfort, pain, and awkwardness, exercise soon becomes a habit.
If you’re lucky, working out can blossom into an enjoyable part of your life. If you’re less lucky, it can at least grow into a tolerable part. In any case, you’ll be working toward a healthier, stronger, and more self-confident you. And that’s worth a few unpleasant burpees, squats, or steps along the way.
