Canada's Weirdest Job Interview Questions

If you're applying for a job as a design specialist at Telus, you're probably not expecting to be asked how to move Mount Fuji.
But that's indeed what happened to one job candidate, according to job review site Glassdoor. Its list of Canada's strangest job interview questions includes such head-scratchers as how to get a plastic ball out of a cup without touching the edges, or your plan to "keep Hootsuite weird."

So what's the point of questions like this? According to Glassdoor's director of talent acquisition, Susan Underwood, employers want to see "how you think and how you can solve unexpected challenges."
The worst thing you can do is say "I don't know" or give a one-word answer, Underwood says, and if you have no idea what the answer might be, your best bet is to talk through it out loud.
“For tough or oddball interview questions, it's not always about getting the right answers, it's about how you tackle a challenging problem," Underwood says. "When faced with tough questions like these, take a deep breath, slow down, sound out your thinking process aloud, and walk the interviewer through how you get to an answer.”
