Talk about ironic.
A commercial truck driver has been suspended from driving for 90 days after he was caught hauling a trailer packed with beer while drunk, said a B.C. RCMP news release.
The Mounties were alerted about a white semi-truck with red letters being driven erratically on Highway 1 in Langley at mid-day on March 9.
Police later received a separate report from a commercial truck driver in Abbotsford who spotted a similar semi-truck driving erratically, and whose driver made a "hand gesture" at them while heading east.
An officer later saw the truck swerving into its lane before it was stopped close to No. 3 Road.
The driver, who had a female passenger, took a breathalyzer and failed, earning himself an immediate driving ban. His truck was towed.
"Although this story has an element of humour and irony, this is a reminder that impaired driving is a serious matter," RCMP Cpl. Rhonda Rempel said in the release.
"We are very fortunate RCMP members located the truck before a serious and possibly fatal incident occurred."
Rempel reminded all drivers to report any dangerous driving behaviour they see on the roads to police.
