A Calgary gas station worker who tried to stop a truck after a "gas and dash" was run over by the vehicle and left with serious injuries.
A stolen truck with two people inside filled up at the Centex gas station across from the North Hill Mall on 16th Avenue N.W. on Sunday morning, said a police news release. The vehicle then pulled into a parking lot about a block west.
The female employee followed the truck, and stood in front of it in an attempt to keep it from leaving the lot, said police.
The truck hit the 35-year-old woman and drove with her on the hood for about 15 metres, before she fell off in the middle westbound lane of busy 16th Avenue. She was then run over by the Ford as it fled the scene.
She's in critical condition with injuries to her pelvis and leg, reported the Calgary Herald.
Investigators are looking for a maroon or brown 2006 Ford Super Duty pickup truck with Alberta plate EUX378.
B.C. is the only province that has legislation requiring drivers to pay before filling up.
