A former B.C. mayoral candidate who served jail time for paying an underage prostitute for sex has gone missing.
Benjamin Wolfe, who ran for mayor of Penticton in 2008, was last seen in Kelowna on June 29.
Investigators say the disappearance isn't suspicious, but it is rather odd.
“It was like he just packed up and left. The mystery, I guess, for lack of a better word, is why he didn't tell anybody," RCMP Const. Steve Holmes told the Penticton Herald.
The officer added that it doesn't seem as though foul play, drugs, or Wolfe's mental state have anything to do with the disappearance.
In 2013, Wolfe served seven months in prison after he was convicted of obtaining sexual services from a person under 18, reports the Penticton Western News.
He admitted he had been meeting with a then-17-year-old prostitute regularly for three months in 2011, not realizing how old she was, according to the outlet.
Wolfe, 71, has a slim build and stands 5'5" tall with dark, curly hair that is balding, according to an RCMP media release. Anyone who has information about his whereabouts is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at (250) 762-3300.
