Happy Birthday, Lucille Ball!
The iconic comedian and actress would have turned 104 today (August 6), and we want to celebrate.
Born Lucille Desiree Ball, the actress grew up to become one of TV's most memorable and hilarious personalities.
The Jamestown, New York native appeared in several films, such as "Du Barry Was A Lady," Best Foot Forward," and "Without Love." After starring in a radio comedy called, "My Favourite Husband," CBS offered to turn it into a television sitcom, and "I Love Lucy" was born.
Ball, along with her husband Desi Arnaz, pioneered the three-camera technique which is now the standard for filming sitcoms. She was also the first woman to own her own studio (Desilu Productions) -- so you could say she made an impact on the entertainment industry.
She's also, without a doubt, helped open doors for Hollywood's current funny ladies, like Tina Fey, Melissa McCarthy, and Emma Stone (she even has the same red hair!).
And may we point out that she did everything with style. While Ball was known for her humour, her killer fashion sense and signature red locks were no joke.
