Jessica Simpson Calls Marriage To Nick Lachey Her Biggest Money Mistake

And it may surprise you.

Jessica Simpson is reportedly worth $150 million U.S., but admits she's been financially burned in the past.

The clothing mogul was asked on CNBC’s “Closing Bell” Thursday about the biggest money mistakes she made either personally or with her business that helped her grow.

Her answer? Her high-profile marriage to Nick Lachey.

The couple broke up in 2005 after a three-year partnership, according to People. However, they didn't sign a prenup, so they were obligated to split their assets equally.

"With Jessica's income outstripping Nick's, that may prove a sticking point," the magazine wrote at the time.

While they collected quite a shared fortune thanks to their MTV reality show, "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," with its resulting endorsements and deals, Lachey accepted less than his share of their assets in the settlement to avoid a court fight, according to TMZ.

Along with Simpson’s retail empire, which is worth about $1 billion U.S., according to Forbes, it's safe to say she probably isn't suffering financially.
