A Calgary man has been arrested in connection with a Vancouver home invasion where a gun was allegedly pointed at a seven-year-old girl.
On June 17, two men wearing reflective vests forced their way into a house in the 3300 block of Dieppe Street in East Vancouver, said police.
One of them aimed the gun at the girl — who went to her parent’s bedroom and handed over a jar of change. Her grandfather was struck in the head twice with the gun, CBC reported.
Several other items were stolen, including a unique Rolex Yachtmaster II watch, worth $25,000.
Vancouver police released surveillance photos of the two suspects in late July.
On Friday, investigators arrested Rouslan Erchov, 28, in Calgary and charged him with robbery, use of an imitation firearm, break-and-enter, and unlawful confinement, said a Vancouver police news release. He remains in custody in Alberta and will be transferred back to B.C. for court proceedings.
“This was a shocking and traumatic robbery for the seven-year-old child and her family,” said Vancouver police Const. Brian Montague. “Investigators worked meticulously and diligently to identify, locate, and arrest this man to hold him accountable.”
The second suspect is still at large.
