October has passed, and with it a season's worth of scary movies.
Now comes November, a time of rain, fallen leaves and a whole new crop of titles streaming on Netflix Canada.
One of the most anticipated picks in this crop is "Jessica Jones," a Netflix original series, and its second attempt at expanding the Marvel universe after "Daredevil."
Krysten Ritter stars as Jessica, a former superhero who has rebuilt her life as a private detective in Hell's Kitchen, the very same neighbourhood that's home to "Daredevil's" Matt Murdock.
Jessica is trying to recover from a tragic incident when she finds herself confronting Kilgrave (David Tennant), a sinister figure from her past.
The series marks the first time that a title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has featured a woman as its central figure. With longtime television writer Melissa Rosenberg on board as creator, we think we're in for a treat.
But that's just the tip of the iceberg as far as what Netflix Canada is offering in November.
"Kingsman: The Secret Service"
"X-Men: First Class" director Matthew Vaughn was at the helm of this spy picture about a street kid (Taron Edgerton) who's recruited into a secret organization to take on a villainous Internet billionaire (Samuel L. Jackson). Colin Firth plays the kid's mentor.
"The Sixth Sense"
A title that might have been better suited to the Halloween season, M. Night Shyamalan's breakout film tells the story of Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment), a troubled child who has disturbing visions of dead people. Bruce Willis plays supportive child psychologist Dr. Malcolm Crowe, in one of his greatest performances.
"O Brother, Where Art Thou"
Joel and Ethan Coen take on Homer's "Odyssey" in this Depression-set comedy about a trio of convicts (George Clooney, John Turturro and Tim Blake Nelson) who escape from prison and pursue a hidden treasure. First-class performances and production values make this a can't-miss title.
"With Bob and David," season 1
Before "Arrested Development" and "Breaking Bad," David Cross and Bob Odenkirk starred together on sketch comedy series "Mr. Show." Now, they're back with another sketch series that Odenkirk promises will be "very silly."
"River," season 1
Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård stars as John River, a police detective working in England who is investigating the murder of a colleague, and tries to cope with her death.
Kids and Family
This DreamWorks Animation film stars Rihanna as Tip, a girl who befriends an alien named Oh (Jim Parsons) who has landed on Earth. The film was one of 2015's early box office hits, raking in an estimated $386 million.
"Care Bears and Cousins"
"My Little Pony" has had its resurgence. But where's the love for the "Care Bears"? Netflix is rolling out this series that reunites old favourites such as Grumpy Bear, Cheer Bear and cousins like Brave Heart.
