The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is investigating allegations that one of its drivers harassed a passenger over the weekend.
A woman named Lyndsey said she boarded an eastbound shuttle bus at Bloor and Christie Streets at around 6:20 p.m. on Saturday.
When she reached out to grab a transfer ticket, the driver "jerked it" out of her grasp several times before giving it to her, Lyndsey claimed in a Facebook post Saturday.
But that wasn't all. The passenger said the driver slammed the doors closed on her twice when she tried to leave the bus through the back doors at a stop on Bloor and Spadina later on.
As the bus waited for the red light to change, she said she snapped a photo of the driver and bus number to file a complaint.
"As I was taking the picture, as you can see in the photograph he was staring right at me, laughing and shaking his head," she wrote on Facebook.
"I don't know if this was some sick attempt at flirting turned into something more sinister at my lack of compliance, but this type of behaviour from a TTC employee is absolutely unacceptable."
The passenger demanded that the TTC issue an apology over the incident, saying, "every woman in the city of Toronto should have the right to use public transit without fearing blatant harassment from a government-employed public servant."
TTC spokesperson Milly Bernal told The Huffington Post Canada that the commission is investigating the alleged harassment.
"I can't really comment because all I can really say is we're investigating it and we are aware and that it's definitely concerning," she said. "But we can't really discuss personnel issues until after the investigation is complete."
UPDATE - March 7, 2016: Lyndsey has since deleted her Facebook post and requested that her full name be withheld because she said she has received online harassment and threats as a result of it.
