A breathtaking beachside property on Vancouver Island has sold for an equally breathtaking price.
The 9,600 sq.-ft. luxury home on sublime Chesterman Beach in Tofino was snapped up for $3.6 million. It's the highest-ever reported residential sale in the picturesque community, according to Brian Danyliw, senior vice-president of Engel & Volkers Nanaimo.
The buyer from Alberta "wanted the nicest house in Tofino," Danyliw told The Huffington Post B.C.
And it's quite the house, with West Coast detailing, cathedral ceilings, five spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a high-end kitchen complete with a pizza oven.
It even has an authentic, locally carved, northwest native totem in the courtyard.
And of course, this view.
Danyliw said the closing price was also the highest on Vancouver Island in recent years.
So, is Tofino the new Vancouver?
"LOL I don’t think that Tofino is quite there yet," Danyliw wrote in an email.
