Gigi Hadid Named Tommy Hilfiger's Global Brand Ambassador

Ending off 2015 with a bang.

Gigi Hadid is closing out 2015 with a bang!

The 20-year-old supermodel, who landed contracts with Maybelline, Stuart Weitzman and Topshop this year, has now been named the Global Brand Ambassador for Tommy Hilfiger.

Along with being the face of the label, Hadid will also collaborate with Hilfiger on a capsule collection, which will include women's sportswear, footwear and accessories, along with a fragrance that will "celebrate Hadid's unique take on modern style, fused with Hilfiger's signature 'classic American cool' heritage," according to the brand. She is set to walk in the fall 2016 show during New York Fashion Week and will attend launch events to promote the collection. Plus, a dedicated #TOMMYXGIGI hashtag will be used across social media channels to promote the partnership.

"I never thought I would be asked to design a capsule collection, so it still feels like a dream that Tommy approached me to collaborate," the model tells Vogue U.K. "His company is one that I genuinely love and have been a fan of for my entire life, and Tommy is the easiest, most fun person to work with."

She continues, "I have always looked up to his brand, campaigns and design style. I think our collection celebrates the iconic Tommy lifestyle and mixes a bit of everything: there are styles that are really hippie-chic, styles that are sporty streetwear, and styles that are tomboy but girly; everyone's is going to love a different part of it."

Hilfiger's choice of model isn't that big of a surprise, however — Hadid previously walked the designer's spring/summer 2016 runway show. Hilfiger tells WWD that because of her appearance, he had the "most viewed show on Snapchat" along with "so many requests for the crochet bikinis and everything else Gigi wore."

"She is the definition of today's 'Tommy Girl' given her optimistic personality and effortless, confident style," he explains.

Hilfiger's target market's love for nostalgia combined with a social media star backing the brand is clearly the key to success — just look at what Kendall Jenner and Justin Bieber have done for Calvin Klein's #MYCALVINS campaign. We predict the collection to be an instant sell-out.
