The Most Memorable Moments From The 2016 Oscars

Out of all the controversy surrounding this year's Academy Awards, we still managed to come out of it with a witty, hilarious and politically thought-provoking show.

Host Chris Rock took every opportunity to address the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, we swooned over nine-year-old Jacob Tremblay and cried over Lady Gaga's performance. It was an emotional roller-coaster, but here's the night summed up.

On the red carpet, Kerry Washington addressed #OscarsSoWhite and why she decided to attend despite boycotts among other celebrities of colour.

Jacob Tremblay charmed us all before he even set foot on the red carpet ...

... And even more once he did.

Chris Rock nailed his opening monologue, addressing #OscarsSoWhite, racial profiling and the need for more black roles in Hollywood.

And he proceeded to make every crack imaginable to poke fun at the lack of representation in the awards. Like bringing in a Suge Knight lookalike, in reference to "Straight Outta Compton" ...

... and calling out Michael B. Jordan's nomination snub for best actor.

He also brought out Stacey Dash to wish us all a happy Black History Month ... and no one, including The Weeknd, was entirely sure why.

But Rock kept the crowd on his side, and also well-fed by bringing out daughters' Girl Scout troupe to sell cookies to the audience!

And he won dad of the year in the process, helping the girls raise more than $60,000.

"Mad Max: Fury Road" swept nearly every behind-the-scenes category: costume design, film editing, sound editing, makeup, sound mixing and production design.

Damn Mad Max! Back at it again winning nearly every production-related award

A touching tribute to those in the film and entertainment industries who have passed away in the past year included Alan Rickman and David Bowie.

These two young presenters, Jacob Tremblay (again!) and Abraham Attah, got a helpful boost from the host.

Lady Gaga's "'Til It Happens To You" performance stunned the crowd with its tribute to sexual assault survivors.

And wait for it — Leonardo DiCaprio finally snagged his first Oscar. And he used his speech to call attention to climate change.

The best way to end the night.
