Canadian Designer Christopher Bates Launches Shoe Line At Harry Rosen

The line features five different dress styles, ranging from patent leather oxfords to velvet slip-on loafers.

Canadian menswear designer Christopher Bates is now foraying the shoe world.

Following his fall/winter 2016 runway show at Toronto Men's Fashion Week on Friday, the Toronto-bred designer, who is now based in Milan, announced the launch of a spring/summer 2016 footwear collection, available exclusively at Harry Rosen.

"I am honoured to work with such a legendary Canadian retailer as Harry Rosen on this exciting collaboration," Bates says in a statement. "We share a deep appreciation for style, design and quality."

Bates, who has been nominated twice for Canadian Menswear Designer of the Year at the Canadian Arts and Fashion Awards, also says he is "proud" to announce the new collection is 100 per cent handmade in northern Italy.

The line features five different dress styles, ranging from patent leather oxfords to velvet slip-on loafers. While one pair features Bates' signature kiss mark, others are more subtle with a "lipstick red" sole.

This marks Bates' first collaborative collection for Harry Rosen. The footwear line is available now at select Harry Rosen stores (Bloor Street and Yorkdale in Toronto and Pacific Centre in Vancouver) and online at HarryRosen.com, and retail for $450 each.
