Frozen peas sold at Costco stores in four provinces are being recalled over possible Listeria contamination.
The Organic by Nature brand sweet peas were pulled in the U.S., and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) followed with an advisory on Saturday.
The peas were sold at Costco stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Products should be thrown away or returned to the store, said the CFIA.
The affected 2.5-kilogram bags have best before dates of Oct. 22, 2017, Dec. 3, 3017, and March 16, 2018.
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes might look OK to eat, but can cause vomiting, nausea, fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.
Elderly people, pregnant women, and anyone with a weakened immune system is particularly at risk, the agency said.
There have been no reported illnesses in Canada yet.
