15 Epic Times The Canadian National Anthem Was Sung

Posted: Updated:

Canada Day was two weeks ago but we're still feeling patriotic.

While we enjoyed watching Justin Trudeau's Canada Day address, making delicious food, celebrating Canadian women and enjoying the great outdoors, we still feel the need to boast about our beautiful country.

In fact, since 2017 marks Canada's 150th birthday, we want to start the celebrations a bit early by watching some incredible entertainers sing and perform the Canadian national anthem.

From Sarah McLachlan to Justin Bieber, here are 15 epic times "O Canada" has been sung.

Did we miss anyone? Let us know in the comments below!

  • Chris Hadfield
The Canadian astronaut and former commander of the International Space Station sang our anthem at the Air Canada Centre before the Toronto Maple Leafs hosted the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 18, 2014.
  • Celine Dion
A young Celine brought down the house singing the national anthem at a baseball game in 1984.
  • Maria Aragon
The 10-year-old Filipino-Canadian singer, who was discovered by Lady Gaga, performed before Prince William and Kate Middleton on Canada Day in 2011.
  • Sarah McLachlan
The Canadian crooner did a stand-up job performing the anthem prior to a Vancouver Canucks game on January 19, 2013.
  • William Shatner
OK, so Bill doesn't exactly "sing" our National Anthem but it's close enough. In 2011, the "Star Trek" alum received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Canada’s Governor General and did a rendition of "O Canada" to celebrate.
  • Justin Bieber
He didn't sing the whole tune but the Biebs belted out a few lines like a total pro on "Lopez Tonight."
  • Edmonton Oilers Fans
Oilers fans made Canadians proud when they took over national anthem duties before the 2006 Stanley Cup final game against the Mighty Ducks.
  • Barenaked Ladies
Wearing their Maple Leaf jerseys, the quartet performed "O Canada" at a Leafs vs. Ottawa Senators game.
  • Justin Trudeau and Children's Choir
After his last cabinet minster was sworn in, the Prime Minister was led by a children's choir singing "O Canada" in 2015.
  • Nikki Yanofsky
The Canadian singer sang the national anthem at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics Opening Ceremony. Not like there was any pressure or anything.
  • Alanis Morissette
Sure, she sang the American national anthem first, but her "O Canada" was definitely better than "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Stanley Cup Playoffs finals in 2007.
  • Jann Arden
Jann sang "O Canada" at the Grey Cup game in Vancouver, 2011.
  • Equinox
The group sang a beautifully harmonized rendition of the national anthem at a Raptors game in 2009.
