Say it ain't so!
Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, her husband of two years, according to TMZ.
The 41-year-old actress filed legal documents on Monday citing irreconcilable differences, and is not asking for spousal support from the 52-year-old actor.
However, she is asking for physical custody of the couple's six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox — and is asking the judge to give Pitt visitation, TMZ reports.
According to the entertainment news site, Jolie lists the date of separation as Sept. 15, 2016, citing legal docs.
The Associated Press reported that an attorney for Jolie-Pitt, Robert Offer, confirmed the actress filed for divorce, saying the decision was made "for the health of the family."
In a statement to People.com, Pitt said, "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time."
The couple first met on the set of the 2003 film "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and began dating shortly after. They got married in a private, secret ceremony at their estate Château Miraval in France on August 23, 2014. They have been together for 12 years.
This was the third marriage for Jolie, who previously wedded actor Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton, and the second for Pitt, who divorced Jennifer Aniston in 2005.
