Remember Connor DeLaurier from “Degrassi: The Next Generation”?
The geeky godson of Archie Simpson attended the Gifted Program at Degrassi and always charmed us with his wit.
Canadian actor A.J. Saudin played Connor when he was just 16 years old. He joined the Degrassi crew in Season 8 and continued his role until the end of the series in 2015.
While the show only ended two years ago, we were still surprised to discover how much Saudin has changed. Here’s what the actor looks like now:
Surprised? Because we sure are! The 24-year-old is totally giving us Drake vibes.
But Saudin’s similarities to Drake don’t stop there! Not only did they both get their start on “Degrassi,” Saudin is currently pursuing a music career, too.
The Mississauga star released a song called “Sunset” on iTunes in October, and released another song called “The Road” on Sound Cloud earlier this week.
On Twitter, Saudin revealed he’s officially done with acting and will be pursuing his music passion full-time.
“I don't do this for money. I don't do this for fame. I do this because it makes me genuinely happy,” he wrote.
“Just FYI, I've always loved making music," he added. “I didn't just start because ‘I'm a failed actor.’ FYI, I quit acting after degrassi (sic).”
Despite his new career path, Saudin hasn’t forgotten his “Degrassi” roots. The 24-year-old often shares Instagram photos from his time on the show, as well as throwbacks of himself as a teen to show how far he’s come.
He’s also proven he’s proud to rep Canada, just like Drake.
In a cheeky Instagram caption, he wrote: “Good things grow in Ontario.”
Indeed they do!
