The chance of U.S. President Donald Trump being impeached or resigning before his first term is up has reached even odds, according to U.K.-based gambling company Ladbrokes.

The betting company lists odds on different "Donald Trump Specials," including whether he will visit Russia before the end of 2017 (5/2) and if Trump will win the Nobel Peace Prize (16/1).

Back in 2016, when Trump won the election, the site had his odds of impeachment at 3/1.

“The money is showing no signs of slowing down and we’ve been forced to cut Trump’s impeachment odds accordingly. We’ve taken five times the amount of bets on him failing to see out his full term than on him doing so," said spokesperson Jessica Bridge in a statement.

“Ladbrokes didn’t even offer odds on Obama being impeached or resigning, which speaks volumes about the current President.”

Gambling on politics is illegal under the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, so those betting likely aren't the same people who will be most impacted by the outcome.

“Ladbrokes didn’t even offer odds on Obama being impeached or resigning, which speaks volumes about the current President.”

But novelty betting was popular in Canada leading up to the U.S. election, B.C. Lottery Corp. spokesperson Doug Cheng told The Canadian Press.

In B.C., more Canadians bet online on the U.S. election than the Oscars; 38 per cent predicted Clinton would win the presidency, and 25 per cent bet on Trump.
