The Look of Love: 3 Valentine's Day Outfits

Posted: Updated:

If you're a hopeless romantic, you've been anticipating today for weeks. You've carefully selected the perfect Valentine card, the sweetest box of chocolates and you more than likely have an elaborate date night planned with your honey.

Then there's the rest of us, that somehow, Valentine's Day snuck up on.

Sure there were the hints at the mall, at the grocery store -- anywhere that sells chocolate and cards. But none of usreally let that sink in nor did we start planning the perfect Valentine's Day date weeks in advance like our Valentine's Day loving sisters who keep Hallmark in business.

Whether you've known what you're doing tonight for Valentine's Day for awhile now or you've just happened to find out this morning or still have no idea -- the last thing you should have to worry about today is how to look great tonight for your sweetheart!

We would much rather see you leave work early to hit the spa for a blowout or a manicure, for your evening out than get into argument with your closet or rush through the mall to find something, anything, that will do the trick.

Here are three great last minute outfits you probably already have in your closet or could quickly find if you decide to make a pilgrimage to the mall!

Oh -- did we mention they're inspired by what the ladies are wearing on BeauCoo?

1) The Little Black Coloured Dress

We're all for the little black dress. And yes -- if you're in a pinch, it would be a great option for your evening out tonight, especially if you're headed to a nice restaurant or Valentine's Day party or event. Just throw on some chunky jewelry, a pair of coloured heels. Done!

But if you're looking to dress up this year -- may we suggest a brightly coloured A-Line dress? If you take a peek at the ladies on BeauCoo right now -- bright pinks, reds and blues are all the rage! And we think a cute red or pink dress would add the perfect Valentine's Day touch, no? Want to take a walk on the wild side? Try a fifties style pinup print like polka dots!

2) Pretty in Lace

If the A-Line dress is a little fancy or just not your style but you'd still like to wear a dress for your Valentine's date night -- a lace dress with short or long sleeves paired with a coloured tights and heels will help you look innocently sweet but still provide a hint of naughty.

While we love some of the colours we are seeing out there on lace dresses in stores such as dark greens, royal blues and the ever sultry black, if you're trying to dress the look down but want to still have some fun - the power lay in your choice of tights! You could go traditional and stick with black tights or you could have some fun with bright colours such as the holiday red!

3) There's Nothing Blase About a Sexy Blouse!

If you're V-Day plans are a little lower key than a fancy night on the town or dresses aren't exactly your thing - there's always plan B. This year, the spring collections have just seem to hit the stores and bright coloured blouses are everywhere!

Trying to look festive? We recommend a red or pink blouse with a pair of dark skinny jeans. Red or Pink not your colour? Opt for a charming emerald green or a dark royal blue. Complete with your favourite black blazer, jewelry of choice and a great pair of heels or flats and we just know your Valentine's Day outfit will be a heart stopper.
