Happy Family Day weekend to those Canadians lucky enough to have tomorrow off. The Internet never sleeps, so those of us living in Blogtown and the urban center of NetNews rarely have more than a few hours away from a computer. I hope readers will forgive me if I run through the past week's highlights Billy Joel fashion -- as in "We Didn't Start the Fire" -- in order to take the rest of the day off with my non-virtual family. (And yes it scans: Try it with the Karaoke version!)
Whitney Houston, she did die, At the Grammys no dry eye,
HuffPost readers said goodbye, Question now, how'd she go?
Gary Carter, the Expo great, He's dead, not 58,
Neil Hope, Degrassi High,
Katimavik, be cut, Justin T, ventilates,
Long guns, the Internet, privacy about to go.
Everyone likes V-Day, everyone except me,
The USA ain't good to gays, CBC makes crap shows.
We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it
One more verse? Okay here we go:
Stephen Harper, Vikileaks, just #TellVicEverything,
Charles Taylor and Korean War, pro-life debate.
Iran, more threats, Jeremy Lin, racists,
Justin T. bawls, he won't separate...
Etc. Etc. Apologies to Billy. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm hitting the beach.
