As world leaders gathered for the World Economic Forum this week, “Davos” began trending on Twitter. But for some “Game of Thrones” fans, it was a painful reminder that the final season of HBO’s epic fantasy drama won’t air until at least 2019.
That’s because they initially confused the location of the conference with the show’s character of the same name, who was portrayed by Irish actor Liam Cunningham:
I didn't know Davos was a place. I keep thinking of Ser Davos every time I hear Davos mentioned. I'd rather talk about #GameOfThrones than #Trump any day!! #GoT

Is it just me? Does anyone else think of Game of Thrones when Davos is mentioned? #TrumpRussia
— Daisybird (@Daisybird1717) January 25, 2018
Everyone keeps mentioning Davos and I'm like, Game of Thrones isn't even airing right now...

(that's the name of a character, right?)
Am I the only person who can’t see past #GameOfThrones when I read “Davos”

Okay so I just found out Davos is a place in Switzerland and also my favorite game of thrones character is Davos and like... is Davos Switzerland but in the game of thrones world? 🤔

Whenever I’m hearing stuff about Davos all I’m thinking about is Game of Thrones 😂

Is it me, or does #Davos sound like some kind of Game of Thrones thing? I believe dragons have a low tolerance for liars... pic.twitter.com/qbqYh4Rxmk

Disappointed all these Davos headlines aren't about Game of Thrones.
— Greg Reckons (@gregreckons) January 25, 2018
All this talk of Davos is making me lonesome for #GameOfThrones. #GoT pic.twitter.com/KZ6AOByJMe

So, I read ASOIAF before I really became ~politically aware~ and because of that whenever someone mentions #Davos I think of a very nice smuggler from Fleabottom and not a place in Switzerland where rich people go

All this news of #Davos is really making me miss #GameofThrones

This guy went straight from the Game of Thrones set to Davos pic.twitter.com/RCp9bxuBlR

Davos is a land that will prominently be featured in the next season of Game of Thrones, right?
