Rick Moranis: '80s movie star. Eyewear trendsetter. Known for roles in "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids," "Spaceballs," and the original "Ghostbusters." Last spotted in theaters in 1996's "Big Bully," a film about a schoolteacher who's still getting picked on by his childhood nemesis.
What happened to that guy?
According to a very rare interview The Hollywood Reporter published on Wednesday, Moranis is actually still working -- he's just been doing some voice stuff, and choosing projects very, very carefully. (Remember the moose from "Brother Bear"? Moranis voiced one of them.)
"I took a break, which turned into a longer break," the ghosthunter said, explaining how he hasn't stumbled across any good roles since the late '90s. After his wife Anne died of breast cancer in 1991, Moranis became increasingly unwilling to keep up with the demands of constant moviemaking. He found himself "at home with a couple of little kids, which is a very different lifestyle."
"But it was important to me. I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever," he said. Moranis hasn't ruled out future onscreen roles, but he's not itching to get back into it -- particularly not that all-lady "Ghostbusters" reboot.
"It makes no sense to me," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
