Ever wonder what other people think about where you live? Take a cue from Renee DiResta and use Google's autocomplete tool.

DiResta, an associate at O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures and blogger, was curious about how Americans felt about people in other states. So she did what anyone would do: she asked Google.

She typed in "Why is [this state] so" and let the search engine do the rest. What did she find?

Many of the results referenced culture or the weather, with some politics and economics mixed in. While some positive searches came up, "for the most part, it doesn’t seem like we think very nice things about each other… at the very least, we’re more inclined to search for articles supporting (or related to) negative biases," she blogged. (To see her full report with an interactive map of the results, click here.)
