A fight between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy reportedly broke out during a taping of the BET Hip Hop Awards, and may have involved gunfire.
The two rappers, who have a long-standing feud, allegedly got into an altercation backstage at the awards show in Atlanta, on Saturday. TMZ reports security needed to step in after Ross, 36, and Jeezy, 34, began to push and shove each other after a shouting match.
The scuffle soon moved outside to the parking lot, where MTV News writes that shots were fired, and at least one man was said to be arrested. Though a spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department told TMZ that "reports of shots fired appear to be untrue," and some sources say that the alleged shooter was simply in possession of a gun, many outlets report there was gunfire at the scene.
No serious injuries have yet to be reported. According to MTV News, Ross' protégé Gunplay was also involved in a fight with members of 50 Cent's G-Unit group, but was not arrested.
HOT 97's Funkmaster Flex tweeted an on-the-scene account of the incident, writing, "Jeezy and Rick Ross just had words backstage!! Pushing and shoving!!!" He followed that by tweeting, "Beef just spread to the parking lot!!!" and "Shots fired in parking lot!!! Gunman arrested!!! Back to the show and Club later!!!"
The BET Hip Hop Awards show taping was reportedly put on hold as a result, and The Hollywood Reporter writes that the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center was locked down. The ceremony resumed soon after with heightened security, and both rappers returned inside, where Ross apparently made an appearance onstage.
As for the alleged gunshots, a source tells US Weekly, "Nobody heard it so who knows. The show is done taping now." But, if one account is to be believed, Machine Gun Kelly tweeted he was injured in the fight, tweeting, "Got mase in my eyes. That beef shit just got real outside."
Little is known about exactly what went down backstage, but the awards show is set to air on BET on Oct. 9.
