Albertans came together to celebrate an evening of music and raise funds for Alberta flood relief on Sunday in Calgary.
The Halo High Water benefit concert held at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium performed to a sold-out crowd.
Hosted by Canadian actors Tom Jackson and Graham Greene, the concert featured performances from Paul Brandt, Jim Cuddy and George Canyon among others and raised money for the Calgary Foundation’s Flood Rebuilding Fund.
Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi was among the attendees of the event that was also available to television viewers in Alberta and British Columbia.
“Kinda that get 'er done attitude that I think that we're all really proud of here in Alberta, that something needs to be done, we need to get in there and do the dirty work and make sure that we get people back on their feet and that people don't fall through the cracks,” said Brandt to CTV News.
"Whether it's rural communities like High River, urban neighborhoods in Calgary, or the southern Alberta First Nations, thousands of people have been impacted by the flooding," said Jackson, Halo High Water Benefit Executive Producer and host in a statement.
"As with any great tragedy, the power of the human spirit is evident in the way communities and individuals have rallied to support those that need it most," he added.
Donations of $10 can still be made by texting HHW to 20222.
A star-studded flood aid concert is also planned for August 15 in Calgary which will be hosted by comedian Brent Butt, and include performances from Jann Arden, Randy Bachman, Tom Cochrane, Matthew Good, Colin James, Loverboy, Corb Lund, Johnny Reid, The Sadies, The Sheepdogs, and Ian Tyson.
