An 18-year-old woman was assaulted while walking at the University of British Columbia (UBC) on Sunday night.
Police said the victim was walking alone in the area of Mundell Park in the south campus when an unknown man grabbed her from behind. The woman struggled and managed to break free from her attacker, who fled.
Officers and a police dog were not able to locate the suspect. He's described as having about 18 to 20 years old, 5'4" to 5'6" tall with a medium build, olive skin, and spiky, short black hair. He was wearing a puffy army green vest, dark long-sleeved shirt, and dark pants.
The woman did not need medical attention, said University RCMP.
"Although we believe this to be an isolated incident, as always, we recommend for the public walking alone late in the evening or early in the morning to remain extra vigilant of their surroundings and take every precaution to enhance their personal safety," said Cpl. Brenda Winpenny in a news release on Monday.
This latest incident does not appear to be linked to six sexual assaults of women on the UBC Point Grey campus in 2013. RCMP released a sketch of the suspect in the attacks between April and October but no arrests have been made.
The school implemented several new safety features on the campus of 60,000 students and staff last fall.
