When Yin Yunfeng discovered his wife was often too busy to make dinner for herself, he decided to step in.
The Chinese solider, who was on a one-week break between two year-long deployments in Tibet, prepared a full year's worth of meals for his school teacher wife, and even left her some sweet treats scattered throughout the house, Metro News reports.
“I have to admit his food packages help keep me going and it’s great to know that he loves me,” Zhao Mai said of her husband's sweet gesture.
Yunfeng packed most of his meals, including more than 1,000 dumplings and 150 litres of her favourite noodle soup, in the couple's freezer and in the freezer's of nearby friends and family, the Mirror reports.
And that's not all. Yunfeng plans to reveal the whereabouts of more hidden treats by phone whenever she is feeling lonely.
"I knew it was going to be tough being a soldier’s wife before marrying him, but I didn’t realise how hard it was until we got married and I had to experience the pain of separation," Mai said in a translation by the Mirror.
And while Yunfeng won't be back for another year, this time Mai won't feel so far from her hubby because, as she says “... every time I have my meal I know he is with me.”
