New Jersey Powerball Entrants Crushed To Learn They Didn't Actually Win

The realization was like "getting punched in the stomach."

The next draw for the Powerball lottery is slated for Wednesday — a event that prompted many Canadians to buy tickets. And if you are among the many who did, be sure to take a close look at your ticket before the winning numbers are drawn.

Employees at a New Jersey restaurant went through some intense emotional ups and downs after thinking they'd scored Saturday's then-US$950-million jackpot, according to NBC New York.

YouTube footage captured some of their joy.

“I’m outta here! I quit!,” one dishwasher apparently yelled as he pulled off his apron, general manager Mike Devincenzi told the New York Post.

But they didn't actually win big. It was a realization a longtime bartender likened to "getting punched in the stomach."
