We need air in those situations. When someone knocks the wind out of you, you need to get your wind back before you do anything else. To respond to those situations in anger or frustration only makes matters worse.

How do you deal with emotional pain? The kind of pain that sits in your heart and occasionally (sometimes without warning) breaks your heart just a little bit, and you feel an overwhelming urge to cry. Many of us can relate to that.
It must be a huge relief for the members of a jury when an eight-week trial ends, but even so, it's not often that half-a-dozen jurors dissolve into tears and sobs in the courtroom immediately after announcing their verdict. Yet that's exactly what happened at the end of the David and Collet Stephan trial, and it gives us an opportunity to discuss how Canada's legal system may be failing jurors.

The "celebrity-sighting" struggle is real.
Three months ago, my love died. Today is our seventh wedding anniversary. I am miserable. Distraction and over compensation has been a great (if not especially healthy) strategy for me. If I can't face the pain of loss at the moment, why not flip the script.
As someone dealing with a pretty major crisis in her life, the pressure to remain positive at all times can be quite taxing. in those moments where it all comes rushing over me, I don't feel so chipper. And I don't think this makes me weak. I think it makes me human.
Its shameful that anyone would give another human a hard time for crying. It's one of hardest things in the world to do. Forgetting the whole gender role kerfuffle, crying is terrifying. It leaves you completely vulnerable to everyone around you, you lose control of your own body and you get boogers. Crying sucks.
