Hollywood can be a bit of a dick to creative folks. I moved here on a green card three years ago after the U.S. State Department decided my contributions to Canadian comedy made me a "person of extraordinary ability." Yet despite this distinction -- and a bunch of national awards (whatevs, no biggie) -- I've been stonewalled from getting my TV pitches off the ground, given I can't even find an L.A. agent interested in reading 'em. That's the industry for ya.
The fact that Ms. Jones loves herself -- the fact of her obvious confidence and the ease with which she speaks her mind -- well, that's an awful affront to the misogynists who expect a "woman like her," i.e. "not pretty enough" or light-skinned enough (in their tiny minds) to stay in the background with her mouth firmly shut.

But that's an interesting aspect of these Canadian series: not only are there still male-led series (like Murdoch Mysteries) but there are plenty of good male roles in these female-led series. There's far more gender balance in casting than a lot of the traditional male-led series.
No matter how it winds up, Ghostbusters 3 is not, and was never going to, please everyone. I hope this doesn't come as a surprise. So whether the upcoming 21st century adventure with proton packs is a blockbuster or just destined to become 'that other one,' I'll have mine and you can have yours.
