This is a beautiful tribute to the late Canadian artist.
Now this deserves a rant.

Storytellers often draw upon what they know. You could program an entire cable network with nothing but movies and TV shows self-reflectively set within the world of Hollywood. Yet the Canadian film and TV industry has rarely been explored in Canadian films or TV.
This year, the World Health Organization is calling on the global community to "end malaria for good" by lowering the global malaria burden over the next 15 years, and reducing malaria death rates by at least 90%. We still have a long way to go, but the end of the malaria epidemic may finally be in sight, and could even be achieved within our lifetime.
To be fair, a shed could come at a reasonable rate.
"He's like a Rod Stewart impersonator. Big crowds in small towns only."
"I don't know what this means but I kinda like it."
Canada is boring again. And Rick kind of likes it that way.
And those "ridiculous" plot twists, too.
"It is time for provinces to start asking what’s in it for Canada, not just what’s in it for me."
"The only promise now is if you read the comments, you will despair for society."
"It’s important we get this right."

They have given up on expressing their opinions, not between themselves, but to the politicians because often times this dialogue is a one-way street.
"They do not get to choose what this election is about, we do. Just like we get to choose who runs this country. That's our job. All we have to do is show up and do it."
With two weeks left to the federal election campaign, national comedian Rick Mercer said the youth vote could be the game-changer in its outcome.

"Because voting is a habit, it’s habit-forming. It’s also contagious."

There, they transmit malaria, the deadliest disease borne by any insect or animal anywhere. This year, malaria deaths are expected to spike upwards, after more than a decade of steady decline. The reason: Ebola. The fragile health systems in West Africa have been stretched to the limit in the Ebola fight, and routine measures to combat malaria have gone by the wayside.
But I guess, when it comes to the little things in this world like committing troops, going to war, or getting into a size contest with Vladimir Putin, it’s okay to play with the truth," rips Mercer.
"This is not how grown up countries act."

A letter signed by 250 people — including comedian Rick Mercer, author Michael Ondaatje and diplomat Stephen Lewis — urges Harper to ask that Fahmy be allowed to leave Egypt under a new law that allows foreigners convicted or accused of crimes to be deported.
The Harper government's decision not to fund Canadian tourism ads in the U.S. has damaged the industry, Ricker Mercer says in his latest rant. Mercer points out that the Harper government stopped fund...
