Monkey In Ikea Videos: Darwin Brushes His Teeth, Hangs Out In Overalls, Plays With Dog

Home videos of Darwin, the famous Ikea monkey, have surfaced on YouTube, according to the Toronto Star.

Videos uploaded by YouTube users Yasmin Nakhuda, identified by CTV as Darwin's owner, and Yaztaz1969 show the animal monkeying around with a dog and a bird, running around with 'his Nuk Nuk', brushing his teeth, hanging out in an office in his overalls, and all dressed up for Halloween.

Darwin shot to Internet fame when he escaped from a crate inside a car parked at an Ikea in north Toronto on Sunday while wearing a snazzy coat.

He was captured, held by animal services, and his owner was fined $240 for having a prohibited animal. Authorities say monkeys like Darwin can sometimes spread diseases that can be harmful to humans. Darwin, now seven-months-old, was reportedly adopted by Nakhuda almost six months ago. On Monday, he was transferred to the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary in Sunderland, Ont., the CBC reported.

The sanctuary's president and co-founder, Sherri Delaney, told CTV Nakhuda has not been denied visitation, but at this point it "would just cause more trauma to him."

Now Nakhuda says she wants Darwin back and is considering legal action, according to the Canadian Press.
