WHAT WE'RE COOKING THIS WEEK: Avocado
It's true avocados are fatty, but it's the kind of fat you want to be eating. They are low in carbs, lactose-free and have about 40 per cent of your daily requirement of fibre and Vitamin K, says health and wellness expert Rose Reisman. And we can all agree that nachos wouldn't be nachos without guacamole on the side.
Sometimes called the 'alligator pear' (because of its wrinkly skin and pear-shape), avocados can be used as skin rejuvenating beauty masks, a butter substitute (especially for baking) and avocado oil even fights heart disease. And because these fruits are so versatile, you can make everything from spreads to dips to salads.
In case you missed it, last week we packed chia seeds.
