When rumours were flying in March about Kate Middleton giving advice to Cressida Bonas, most people assumed the Duchess of Cambridge was giving hints on how to impress the Queen and dress like a royal.
But in the wake of Bonas and Prince Harry's breakup last month after two years of dating, it appears something very different may have been happening, and it could give a bit of insight into how much Kate has learned over the last decade about the royal family.
According to the U.K.'s Now Magazine, Bonas had been worried about the pressure of the whole country watching her every move. An insider told the publication that Kate "told Cressie how she benefited from taking time out when she was on a break from William. Kate said it might be best for them too.'"
That certainly seems to fall in line with Bonas' most recent public appearance at a club alongside Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, which mirrored Middleton's own partying during the months she was split from Prince William in 2007.
But is a break a good idea in general for a relationship? Relationship expert Steve Ward believes so. He told Psychology Todaya pause can give individuals time for much-needed introspection.
“Breaks are sometimes necessary to create space and allow someone to come to the realization that they are happier, more productive, and better off with someone than without them,” he told the publication.
It certainly seemed to work for Kate and Will, so there could be hope for a Duchess Cressida yet.
