Ottawa Police confirmed Thursday morning one shooter was responsible in the attack on the nation’s capital that left one soldier dead.
Initial reports suggested more than one suspect, but the city's police chief, Charles Bordeleau, says just one gunman was involved.
“That’s what the chief has been saying,” Const. Marc Soucy told The Toronto Star Thursday morning.
The investigation, Soucy added, is ongoing.
Reservist Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot while guarding the National War Memorial on Wednesday morning. Shortly afterward gunfire rang out at the nearby Parliament buildings.
The suspect, identified as Michael Joseph Paul Zehaf Bibeau, was later shot dead by Sergeant-At-Arms Kevin Vickers after he entered Parliament's Centre Block.
