It's supposed to be an honour to be dubbed the "Sexiest Man Alive" by People magazine but one actor reportedly didn't want anything to do with it.
The Wrap reports that Canadian hottie Ryan Gosling declined the magazine's yearly title more than once.
"They tried a few times, especially during his huge year in 2011," a source close to the cover negotiations said. They also revealed that many attempts by the magazine were squashed by the actor's team. "The consensus was he's too serious for it, too artsy," the source added.
The title—which was given to "Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth this week—has also been bestowed upon celebrities such as Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington, Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Ryan Reynolds.
Fans of "The Notebook" star have been clamouring for him to be the "Sexiest Man Alive" for a few years, but it reached a fever pitch when "American Hustle" star Bradley Cooper nabbed the honour in 2011, prompting protests and speculation that the Oscar nominee was People's second choice behind Gosling.
"While I look forward to the day when Ryan Gosling is named Sexiest Man Alive, this was not his year," People's Editorial Director told The Wrap. "Our 2014 honoree Chris Hemsworth was our first and only choice. If you want to know why, just look at him. I mean, seriously."
Since we probably won't see the father on the cover of People anytime soon, let's enjoy current "Sexiest Man Alive" Chris Hemsworth:
