Michael Bublé never meant to hurt anyone when he posted a photo of a woman to Instagram this week.
The photo, which was taken by his wife Luisana Lopilato, shows a woman wearing short shorts in Miami.
The singer from Burnaby, B.C. was thereafter accused of "body shaming" the woman with the photo. Commenters on his Instagram called him a "misogynistic bastard" and were surprised he felt it was OK to post it.
Others, however, laughed along with the musician.
Bublé responded to the controversy via his Facebook account on Friday:
While stopping short of saying "sorry" or overtly apologizing, Bublé expressed "regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive."
"That was not and is not my intention," he wrote. "Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honoured and revered. I've spent my life believing that and will continue to do so."
