We love images at The Huffington Post. We splash them loud and proud at the top of our home page and we build monster photo galleries (Will and Kate’s Canada tour, anyone?)

In our continuing year-end review of 2011, we’ve already looked at disaster photos, the best of entertainment photography, your favourite travel photos of the year, best sports images, and who can forget the 2011 bikini battle.

But as everyone knows, 2011 was a remarkable year for news. HuffPost Canada editors have already shared our picks for Canada's top five news winners and losers of the year, our favourite front pages, as well as our choice of story of the year.

Now we share a selection of the most compelling news photos of 2011. Vote for your favourite.

The kiss was sweet and I hope they get to know the joy of looking back on a long and beautiful life together.

If not, then dreams will have to do.

The "kiss" photo is a further reminder of your Mothers best advice which is "always wear clean underwear to a riot".

Some people have no romance in their hearts.

I remember when the kiss was first published. There were so many posters here claiming that it must have been photoshopped because the couple were in sharp focus and the back ground wasn't. It amazed me that so many people did not have a clue about how a camera works and had never heard of such a thing as depth of field. I fear that photography will soon be a lost art.

"The Kiss" ranks up there with the best photo of the decade.

I love the "Stop Harper" photo as well. Very iconic.

The Kiss is art, Stop Harper is politics. Art wins handsdown.

One person's art is another person's porn.

Booo! Either it was a bad year for photos or you guys dont have a clue what makes a great photograph.
What you have here is mostly a collection of events. Anyone with a camera could have captured the same thing.
The Vancouver riot kiss and the pride dancer are great photos.
