UPDATE: Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger threw a pre-wedding party on Saturday, but haven’t officially tied the knot, according to US Weekly.. The ceremony will reportedly take place Monday.
Did Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger tie the knot in Cannes, France on Saturday morning? It's "Complicated."
While PEOPLE Magazine writes the highly-anticipated "I do's" have not yet taken place, an US Weekly source describes the Canadian rock royalty nuptials as being a "very intimate affair."
According to US, the bride reportedly wore a custom-made Johanna Johnson dress.
News of the couple's wedding first broke on Twitter on Saturday morning, when Mike Heller, the CEO of Talent Resources, a marketing company which represents Lavigne, wrote, "I'm in south of France about to see my little Rok star #avril get married I am so happy to be part of this special celebration." Heller followed that tweet with another point of clarification, writing, "No pictures will be sent since this is #avril wedding but I will tell you everyone is so excited."
An official confirmation about the wedding has yet to be released by either party, resulting in conflicting reports.
Lavigne, 28, and Kroeger, 38, first announced their engagement to Hello! Canada back in August, and have since been dubbed "Chavril" by Canadian and international media. The magazine writes, "Avril and Chad became fast friends while collaborating on her fifth studio album... by the time recording was over, they had fallen in love. Chad proposed to Avril with a 14.01-carat diamond from XIV Karats Beverly Hills on one of their last days in the studio together."
As for the wedding, the "Here's to Never Growing Up" singer has been far from shy when it came to dropping hints about what she wanted for her big day. Metro UK reports Lavigne planned to perform a duet with Kroeger at the ceremony, and the 28-year-old also told US Weekly the wedding venue was, "Out of control."
Though official wedding details, or photos, have not yet been revealed, Lavigne and Kroeger have been keeping busy over the past six weeks. The two made their first public red carpet appearance at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas in May and most recently strutted down the 2013 MuchMusic Video Awards red carpet in Toronto.
Once confirmed, this will mark the first marriage for Kroeger and the second for Lavigne. The Napanee, Ont. native was formerly married to Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley from 2006 to 2009.
