P.K. Subban's Class Act Response To Maclean's Cover

It’s been a whirlwind year for P.K. Subban.

The Toronto native travelled to Sochi, Russia to play with Team Canada during the Olympics and survived the demands of a NHL playoffs season that saw his Montreal Canadiens qualify for the Eastern Conference finals.

But alas, a Stanley Cup victory wasn't meant to be for the Habs. At least he got to sneak a kiss on NBC reporter Pierre McGuire's cheek.

So at this point, Subban must be ready for his summer break. And he is. But not before he adds "cover model" to his long list of accomplishments for this year.

On Friday, the star defenceman posted a sneak peek of an upcoming issue of Maclean's featuring him on its cover, wearing a very patriotic tank top.

And being the good sport that he is, he also thanked the magazine for choosing to include him in their Canada Day special.

In the July 7 issue, Subban details reasons why he’s proud to be a Canadian and shares his story about how hard work and optimism is paying off for him and his family.

“We’ve always been very well integrated, and I think July 1 has come to signify that for us. Whether you’re with friends or family, you’re celebrating on Canada Day,” says Subban.

“Canada gave my family an opportunity to be successful, and that’s all you can ask for. It’s up to you to take advantage of it.”
