The news today that American fast food giant Burger King could merge with Canada's beloved Tim Hortons (which is no slouch in the numbers department itself) was a big surprise to discover as we grabbed our Double Doubles on Monday morning.
But then we got to thinking — what if this could work? We mean, what if this could really work? We could take the best of Tim Hortons and combine it with the best of Burger King, for a net result of remarkably convenient, questionably nutritious food for any time of the day. After all, there are plenty of foods that have already been combined that work so well together, why not these menu items too?
We came up with a few menu ideas King Hortons could start serving up once they're ready. You're welcome.

Apple Fritter Whopper
The sweetness of the fritter ... the classic broiled burger. Together at last.
Double Double Milkshake
How do you make your milkshake even more of an indulgence? Forget soft serve and make it with pure cream.
Double French
That French Vanilla and English Toffee is looking a little lonely — which is why it needs to be accompanied by its new best friend, French Toast Sticks. (Maple syrup poured in optionally.)

While we don't think this could work for every Timbit flavour, something like old-fashioned plain could use a gravy and cheese curd topping, we say. And then maybe, just maybe, King Hortons could develop a whole new savoury doughnut just for the occasion.
