Nothing seems more redundant than getting a sick note from your doctor when you're very obviously sick. Spending time getting to the doctor, then sitting in the waiting room, he or she examining you, then writing the note, then getting that note to your place of employment -- it's all such a struggle, especially if you only have a common cold.
That's allegedly what happened to an Alberta worker (supposedly employed at Pizza Hut, according to Reddit user eaglel666) afflicted with a cold. His workplace demanded a note, and he got one, but it wasn't your typical sick note.
In it, the doctor lambasts his employer for wasting everybody's time:
This isn't the first time this has happened in Canada -- Nova Scotia doctor Ethel Cooper-Rosen has a rather stern form note she sends out with any patient who comes to her office seeking a sick note.
