In the wake of the news of Prince's death the musical tributes help fans process the loss of an undeniable genius. This one, fittingly, will make you want to get up and dance.
Skratch Bastid, a Toronto-based DJ originally from Bedford, N.S., dropped the needle early Friday morning for a turntable tribute that mixes some of Prince's biggest hits.
"I'm all about giving our legends the respect they deserve, but I don't like to do it in the wake of their death... not because Prince meant less to me, not even close -- but because I only wanted to do it if & when it felt natural," Murphy wrote. "The 5 times I saw him live are memories I hold dearly and inspiration that will never run out."
The freestyle set, which has hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook, shows the Juno nominee's clear devotion to His Royal Badness. Murphy mixes a playful edit of Prince's signature sounds in "Kiss" while not taking himself too seriously, spinning and dancing in front of a wall plastered with Prince LP sleeves.
